Join Alex DePhillipo and New Jersey’s finest for a “Dark Fall” fundraiser on Friday, June 12 from 6pm-12am at Joey Harrison’s Surf Club in Ortley Beach, NJ. Check out the event page for more information with links to more trailers, stills and interviews.
The trailers for Alex DePhillipo’s High Definition surf film (still in production and scheduled to be released towards the end of 2009) impress. Here’s another early look and heavy barrel experience.

Winter Surfing | East Coast from David McCarty on Vimeo.
I came across this cool little video of a father and son surfing while searching for some New Jersey footage from 3/21 (and the following week). You see lots of videos of guys charging hard in hectic conditions, but rarely see a couple of guys styling in suits on frozen micro-lines. Paddling out in these conditions is a special kind of hardcore.
As cold, small and fun as it gets.

ONE WAY trailer from Iker Elorrieta on Vimeo.
With so many places in the world to travel for surf, part of me thinks these crew should have their heads checked, and part of me thinks they made a wise choice. Of course, there is another part of me that hopes they scored, and a part of me that hopes they didn’t.
Kind of like when you’re floating through an insufferable high tide and that one wave finally comes. All alone, you get a long sweet left, kick out and see five of your closest friends walking down the path.
I’m rambling…It looks crisp, and interesting. Enjoy.

A Pleasant Surprise from Kyle Pahlow on Vimeo.
We’re a little late on the video of the week, but the week isn’t over. This trailer really is a pleasant surprise – kind of like a 15 second swell period.

Enjoy.
The Coldest Day

March 2nd, 2009 from Noah Ward on Vimeo.
March came in like a Lion and the 2nd had to be one of, if not the coldest days of the winter. It reminded me of a day that Dave and I surfed down in Belmar after a storm. Lots of runoff dropped the water temps down to the low 30s. About halfway through a small wave desperation session, I thought it would be a good idea to take a nap. Not a wise choice.
Some ill switch-foot riding, and props Thomas Brookins for standing around and shooting this footage.

You know you’d rather be doing this in school instead of snorting Nerds and drawing waves on your notebook. Hey It’s New York Surf!

November in New Jersey from Interzone To Atlantis on Vimeo.
Sometime around early fall, we went down to the Shore on a day when most, if not all of New York did the same thing. Northern NJ was doing it’s best Kirra impression. I don’t any of the footage is from that swell, but with guys like Sam Hammer and Clay Pollioni on some of the rights, you kind of get the picture.
This is one of Surfline’s featured videos and, what the hell, we’ll use it for our video of the week too.

January New York Session from Matthew Clark on Vimeo.
What happened to the January thaw? Not this year. Like all mid-winter sessions, MC’s icy tease put a smile on my face, and left me wanting a little bit more.
