Shave Ice
Last week’s arctic blast groomed a nice south swell recession session for those free to go. Those hanging on to their jobs probably weren’t very productive. Designated driver Mike Rovnyak stood behind the lens and dealt with the wind chill while familiar faces got covered up on what was arguably the coldest day of the winter. Scroll through Michael’s photo gallery for more mid-winter gems, including a bunch of the The Artist Formally Known as Snapwater who was finally on the right (or wrong) side of the lens.
Speaking of TAFKAS, Tommy Buckets launched a new blog, “A Clock with No Hands“, which features some of his inspiration along with a really nice write-up of TJ Gumiella (Violence with Grace) who was recently photographed charging some thick NW Slabs along with Will Skudin.
Office shredders got a rare look at some of the World’s best snowboarders wrecking more havoc on the FDR than the monster potholes left by the snowplows. Thousands came out on thursday evening to check out the Red Bull Snowscrapers, featuring Shaun White, Terje, ‘Squan’s Shayne Pospisil and more.
We only stuck around for the first jam session and it seemed as if some of the riders were having a hard time maintaining speed. Some went big, others looked like they were going into the net. Next time they’ll have to make it ten stories. Kudos to RB for putting on a free event for the masses on the LES. Bring it back bigger and louder (and a touch warmer) in 2010.
It seems that lately all NYC events end at Katz’s Deli, which is becoming a problem for my waistline. Any remote chance I had to sport my sister’s jeans was squashed by pastrami on rye and a knish along with some split pea soup and a few pints. Hey, by the time I was done I could feel my feet.

“I’ll have the corned beef, I’m Irish.”
“What, did I break a window?”

Some must poop on the pot, I mustard on the tongue.
Doesn’t look as bad as Minnesota. :]
