NY Surfers Paddle to Support Dean Randazzo

Two New York Surfers now living in Hawaii will participate in the “The 7-Mile Miracle Paddle: A Paddle to Support Dean Randazzo!” On Sunday May 18th, Ed DeLamarter will be joined by Mike Lutwin and friends in Hawaii, and will paddle from Velzyland to Alii Beach Park (aka “The 7-Mile Miracle”), in support of New Jersey surf legend and pro surfer, Dean Randazzo. Surfing on Sine Waves / Polygon Windows

A high tide and east-northeast wind combined for a nice big bowl of grits, which by the way, just happen to be on the menu at the Ocean Park Diner. Although it was nice to get a surf in, today was all about the company and a talking of a slightly different story.

Curious timing by Soussol Selector’s much needed bass after breakfast voice mail on the way home.

Parking in the Odd-Lot

Last night as I was packing a giant Century bag with my wetsuit, wax and towels, I noticed a nice pink and green beach towel folded up on the top shelf of the linen closet. It looked familiar to me and I wondered why I hadn’t used it before, instead of screwing around with smaller bath towels in a compact car.

In the parking lot this morning, the mild outside air temperature, coupled with an over sized and brand spanking new silky-smooth beach towel made talking movies with my Attorney a pleasure. He was troubled by “Stop-Loss“, and I recommended “Ravenous“, though I warned him it will make him hungry.

The surf was good today, which made for a relaxing afternoon at the zoo with my son. We shot over to a boatyard afterward, and while I was watching him try to skip rocks along the water my wife called.

“So, was that the largest beach towel you ever used?”, she asked.

“Kind of, yeah, actually it was. When did you get it?”

“A couple of weeks ago.” she replied.

“Why, was it on sale?”

“No, We needed something to eat on for Easter. You took my Easter tablecloth with you to the beach this morning, and now it’s hanging on the clothes line.”

You know what’s really weird? We didn’t even eat at home for Easter.

It felt really good to get some waves today.

Synopsis

A documentary about one family’s struggle to heal their son from autism

In 2003, Hawaii filmmakers Don and Julianne King realized something was
wrong with their three-year-old son, Beau. Around age two-and-a-half, Beau
started loosing his ability to speak, his coordination, and was becoming
disconnected from the outside world. Determined to help Beau, his parents
brought him to the best doctors in the U.S. and took along a video camera to
document the results. Two months later, Beau was diagnosed with Autism
Spectrum Disorder (ASD).

In BEAUTIFUL SON, Don and Julianne take us on their journey through the
landscape of this debilitating neurological disorder as they attempt to
recover Beau from autism. Along the way, through their research and personal
interaction with various medical professionals, Don and Julianne come to
believe the establishment has little to offer apart from advice of “good
parenting” and behavioral therapy. Desperate to find help, they stumble upon
a community of doctors and parents who are experimenting with alternative
treatments and who are, they believe, successfully recovering some kids from
autism.

BEAUTIFUL SON is the story of an illness reaching epidemic proportion, now
affecting one in 150 children. And, it’s the story of a grass roots movement
of parents and doctors who believe that vaccines, mercury and other toxins
may be triggering some forms of autism and demanding research be done to
help their children.
